Can
I get an application mailed to me?
Applications must be filled out in person at the Area 1
Inside Electrical JATC administrative office and only during open application
times.
What
does JATC stand for?
Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. It is a
committee made of equal number of Employer and Employee representative.
Employer members represent management and Employee members represent labor.
If I
already have an employer who wants to hire me, can I bypass the application
process?
No, The JATC does not place individuals in the program
based on intents to hire. All interested individuals must apply, and when
your application gets into the top 20 names of the Ready for Employment list,
then the employer can hire you.
I
have a college degree, do I have to take the math placement test?
All applicants, no matter their level of education, must
take the math placement test, acceptable Math placement test scores by
College are indicated below. The only exception is an individual who has completed a math 60 or above
class within the past twelve months of his/her application date, passing the
class with a "C" or better.
Can
I start apprenticeship school while I am waiting to get into the
apprenticeship program?
No, classes are for registered apprentices only.
Can
I challenge the first year of classes?

long does it take to complete the apprenticeship program?
The apprenticeship program takes a minimum of four years
to complete. In that four years, you are required to work 8000 on the job
training hours and attend four years of related training classes.
Where
do I go to attend classes?

is the cost of school? Who pays for it?
Tuition costs are currently $800.00 per year, in
addition you will be required to purchase text books. The cost is the
responsibility of the apprentice.
When
can I upgrade my application with new information?
The Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC will only accept new
information for applications during open application times.
How
much does it cost to apply?
There is no application fee.
